Candidate Profile

This position requires a B. S. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.  Other engineering degrees will be considered depending on the experience of the individual.   


Minimum of 5 years of external and similar job experience is required. 


Experience with SAP (WO’s + Purchase to Pay) is preferred.  


Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, reading P&IDs, equipment files, plant equipment specifications and MOCs is required. 


Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of pumps, gearboxes, compressors, exchangers, turbomachinery, boilers, heaters, motors, MCCs and instrumentation. 


Must be able to manage small to medium size ($100K to $2M) unplanned unit outages. This includes assembling and managing resources within a moment’s notice. 

 

Activities

Reviews the operations of the unit daily and interfaces with the unit supervisors, maintenance coordinator, and area engineers to discover variations in established maintenance conditions or plant practices.  Provides technical support required for maintaining production of a quality product.   


Communicates daily for priorities and actions from the daily alignment meeting with the Business Team Leader, HSSE, Inspections and Engineering.


Investigate the cause of failures, especially premature failure, and recommends machine design changes or operational changes which will improve the reliability of this equipment.  


Assist in the organizing and updating of the maintenance equipment, drawing files, specification sheets, etc. with the help of the staff assistant.


Assist in the review the spare parts stored in the warehouse, as necessary, to ensure that parts are available as required for breakdown maintenance.


Ensures PMs are scheduled and coordinated through the field service coordinator. Monitors conditions and KPIs for these specialty equipment items on a weekly basis. 


Responsible for keeping informed of any and all equipment problems that limit the productivity or efficiency of the plant and taking prompt action to resolve these matters.


Technical SME for maintenance day to day activities within assigned area.  Provide technical assistance, as necessary, to craftsmen performing in-plant maintenance work.


Context & Environment

Reports to the Site Maintenance Manager.


Provides assistance and back up for other personnel in the group (i.e. vacation, training, etc.)


Interfaces directly with specialty contractors (chillers, air compressors, heaters, boilers, etc.).


At minimum, 50% of time is spent in the field or maintenance shop witnessing pump rebuilds, major equipment overhauls and field work.


Makes internal entry into all equipment within his/her area when opened for inspection or repair work


Contributes to turnaround planning by answering questions about scope and technical matters, assisting with manpower leveling, and recommending optimum number of craftsmen.  Also participating in turnaround execution as assigned.
