Candidate Profile

  • Qualification: B.Sc or B.Tech – Mechanical or Civil engineering 
  • 10 years general experience in the oil industry. Sound experience in the engineering, construction and maintenance 
  • High level of problem solving ability, negotiating skills, good communication skills, tenacity, ability to challenge and identify problems 
  • Sound knowledge of the local legislations, group and international standards in relation to the oil industry 
  • English is the working language 

Activities

Strategy: 

To design the long term plan for the B2B, Technical division (together with Investment and related teams) 


Marketing: Customer Sites Construction and Engineering 

  • To implement statutory legislation requirements and the TOTAL Group rules, policies and best practices in all construction works including HSEQ requirements 
  • To plan, prepare and carry out construction work for all B2B projects on annual basis 
  • To manage the contractors, consultants, architects and equipment suppliers, follow up on their performance and adherence to the set deadlines and budgetary guidelines 


Preventative and Corrective Maintenance 

  • To maintain the B2B assets cost effectively, maintain equipment to their original state of repairs and on time 
  • To define and categorise equipment that would require preventative and corrective maintenance 
  • To set contracts for the preventative and predefined maintenance (in collaboration with purchasing) 
  • To oversee corrective maintenance through the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Engineers 
  • To oversee preventative maintenance through the team of qualified and experienced engineers and technicians 

Legal and HSEQ: 

Strict compliance to Occupational Health and Safety Act, Construction Regulations, Norms and Standards as determined by the Group. 

  • Ensure that the contracts are adapted to the customers’ needs, 
  • Ensure that the contractors deliver what is expected, 
  • Ensure that the budgets allocated to contracts carefully monitored and are respected 

 

To effectively manage and minimise HSE risk within area of responsibility by ensuring: 

  • Compliance with all HSE Policies, rules, guideline and legal requirements.  
  • Promotion of safe working environment and positively contributing to the company HSE KPIs and risk reduction strategies. 
  • That HSE competency requirements are identified & enforced within area of responsibility 

People Management 

To effectively manage employees through applying the company People management principles, and to develop, coach and mentor 

subordinates to promote a positive working environment which will attract and retain skilled staff and increase productivity 


Governance 

To ensure effective risk management and internal control, including asset management, for area of responsibility 


General: 

  • To ensure critical skills and positions are identified 
  • To ensure succession plan is in place for direct reports, and update job descriptions at least every 2 years 
  • To ensure the annual employee review process includes a review of employee career plan and development plan 
  • To ensure direct reports understand and comply with procurement policy and procedures, and that non-compliance to procurement procedures will be addressed 
  • To ensure that business rules for Asset Management are adhered to, the monthly AUC report is acted upon. 

Context & Environment

  • Management of all engineering and construction projects and maintenance of assets for B2B. The engineering and maintenance activities are managed through optimal utilisation of all resources including all service providers. This is aligned to the strategic path with due consideration to the legislative framework, HSEQ, purchasing processes and effective service. 
  • B2B areas supported by the engineering team are: Mining (Fuel and Lubricants) assets; General Trade ( Agriculture; Transport and Construction & Other).
