Profil du candidat

You have a PhD or master’s degree in Electrical engineering,
 Your experience is more than 5 years in renewable energy grid integration and grid modelling,
 You have a strong knowledge in simulating the dynamic performance of power systems using MATLAB/PSCAD/Digsilent (PSCAD experience is highly preferred),
 Your Understanding of general control architectures for renewables grid integration,
 You have an advanced analytical skills and knowledge of power systems analysis and modelling techniques,
 You can communicate very well in French& English.

Activités

This position will involve working closely with a team of dynamic modeling engineers to address outstanding research challenges for current and modern power systems with huge participation of converter-based resources through improved capabilities to model and analyze their integration to the utility grid and look at providing different ancillary services using GFL (grid following) and GFM (Grid forming) inverters.

  • Support the RD team to develop tools, models, and knowledge to quantify the needs for future power grid services and evaluate the ability of technologies in providing the services.
  • Support the modelling team on Grid regulations and Grid connection/compliance studies (flicker, harmonics, load flow and short circuit level, and dynamics) at TSO level.
  • Assisting in the development and testing of control strategies for renewable energies gird integrations (on and offshore) using GFL and GFM inverters.
  • Analyse results and develop conclusions for future power grid challenges,
  • Write test plans, propose design of simulations, and summarize results in test reports,
  • Interact with the R&D, Technical line, business units involved in the assessments of grid modelling tools, and software development.

Contexte et environnement

You will join an ambitious, dynamic, motivated and multicultural team focused on “Power System Modeling and Control”. We are operating international projects in collaboration with international academic partners. Our team is a part of Hybrid and storage program at Power R&D line and has two main missions. The first one is to work on modeling the evolution of future electrical power systems and designing the proper power control system that will guarantee the safety and stability operations. Secondly, to anticipate to the evolution of ancillary services needed in current and future power grids and identify the best candidates among conventional thermal plant, BESS standalone, Grid forming/ grid following renewables sources.
